FACE-TO-FACE RETREATS

For the things that cannot be learned remotely.

Multi-day in-person intensives in which practitioners learn to feel the autonomic model from the inside out. The framework becomes embodied knowledge, not conceptual understanding. Held at our own eco-reserves and select partner venues.

ADVANCED TRAININGS

Assume background in autonomic physiology, and are generally appropriate for people studying autonomics or with prior background in nervous system informed pedagogy.

5-day Autonomic Tracking Retreat

Wednesday to Sunday, October 14-18, 2026

Northern California Eco-Reserve

FACE-TO-FACE ⌖ 5 DAYS

OCTOBER 14-18, 2026: ADVANCED - AUTONOMICS BACKGROUND REQUIRED

5-Day Autonomic and Interoceptive Tracking Retreat

Settled Interoception is a foundational competency of clinical autonomic work. Before a practitioner can listen to the autonomic state of another, they must have genuine fluency with their own — the felt signatures of each state, the patterns of their own allostatic accumulation, the subtle visceral and chemical shifts that mark transitions in real time.

This retreat trains that fluency directly. Over five days, a curated transdisciplinary cohort works in an apprenticeship structure rooted in classical guild tradition. The model is not taught. It is inhabited.

THE FIRST ARC — Your Own System

Participants will deepen grounded interoceptive contact in their own body, map interoceptive deficits accumulated through allostatic load, and learn the visceral and chemical signatures of each autonomic state as they arise dynamically in lived experience. The work builds toward precise familiarity with how your own system deviates from baseline under stress — and personal pathways for shifting state by consciously modulating ANS inputs in real time. You cannot reliably hear what you have not yet learned to feel.

THE SECOND ARC — working with others

Three competencies are developed:

Visual identification. Reading the attributes of autonomic states on the Autonomics mandala as they appear in others — learning to see the changing landscape of state in vivo.

Interoceptive resonance. Developing objectively accurate interoceptive resonance with the states of others, so that the practitioner can feel them co-arising during a clinical encounter.

Leading-edge intervention. Identifying and working at the leading edge of the continuous load pathway — facilitating reorganization and reregulation where clients cannot return to baseline on their own.

WHO ATTENDS

Practitioners across the healing arts and coaching: physicians, psychologists, therapists, bodyworkers, nurses, occupational and physical therapists, mindfulness and embodiment teachers, and coaches at all levels of practice. Prior background in mindfulness, somatics, or embodiment work is expected. This is not an introductory course.

Admission is by selection.

4-day Advanced Autonomics Retreat

FACE-TO-FACE ⌖ 4 DAYS

LATE JUNE 2027, EXACT DATES TBD: ADVANCED - AUTONOMICS BACKGROUND REQUIRED

4-Day The Perinatal Autonomic Cascade (Varello, Italy)

At the most fundamental level, birth is a transition from marine to terrestrial existence. The fetus lives in a neutrally buoyant, pressure-equalized environment, without gravitational gradients to manage cardiovascularly, without pulmonary gas exchange, without the requirement to source nutrition from outside the body. In the first moments and hours after birth, a precisely ordered series of neurological and neurochemical transformations must occur to prepare the physical body for this entirely novel reality. We call this the Perinatal Autonomic Cascade: a sequential initialization of autonomic systems — cardiovascular, respiratory, gravitational, visceral — each stage dependent on the successful completion of the one before it. The cascade is exquisitely sensitive to neurochemical context, particularly the presence of oxytocin. Disruption at any stage — through difficult delivery, separation, pharmacological interference, or insufficient oxytocin — results in incomplete initialization that may* be retained in the autonomic architecture throughout the lifespan, with measurable consequences for physiological regulation, somatic organization, and clinical presentation. This workshop presents the theoretical model, and explores facilitating the cascade itself through refined autonomic tracking and facilitatory work.

WHO ATTENDS

This training is for advanced autonomics practitioners who have either completed our yearlong autonomics practicum, or related relevant coursework in autonomic physiology (with instructor approval).

Admission is by selection.

2-day introduction - Finding Home in Your Nervous System

Friday to Sunday, September 25-27, 2026

Columbus, Ohio

FACE-TO-FACE ⌖ 2 DAYS

SEPTEMBER 25-27, 2026: INTRODUCTORY - NO PREREQUISITES

2-Day Finding Home in Your Nervous System

Our work is about coming home to yourself through the autonomic nervous system– the deepest layer of your nervous system, with the strongest shaping force over your lived-moment-to-moment experience of wellbeing.

We will spend one evening and two days exploring the experiential practice of deepening our embodied experience of safety, and opening the neurological doors to connection in and through the body. Our bodies have an innate and aboriginal language that most of us do not speak at all.

In this two-day training, Gabriel will work to acquaint (re-acquaint) you with this deepest primal animal and embodied aspect of being. We will learn to communicate with our own nervous systems, and that of others through the embodied language of sensation, and begin to learn to read to map of our own (and other people's) autonomic selves. This is a layer of self beneath language, and far beneath thinking, and it is spoken by animals in the forest as well as humans. Our goal is to help acquaint you with, and deepen into an experience of the vitality of this autonomic self.

WHO ATTENDS

Yogis, meditation practitioners, anyone with an interoceptive or somatics or movement practice, including coaches and wellness professionals and interested individuals of all kinds wishing to apply the principles of autonomics to wellbeing. For whom would it not be appropriate? People taking psychotropic medications, people with active substance abuse issues, people with complex chronic illness (what I'm teaching about autonomic intervention won't work the same way for you), people with Axis 2 disorders (personality disorders), people in extreme distress, or mental health crisis. In order to benefit from this training you should be in a relatively balanced place– somewhat subjective given the dumpster fire of modernity, we realize– but you need a base of some stability in the body and mind to integrate this material in ways that are useful.

Admission is by selection.
