A deep dive into the intellectual history of autonomic science, this lecture series reaches back to the origins of the field nearly 2,000 years ago in ancient Rome, exploring how category errors in its foundations have infiltrated the modern view of the nervous system. Asks the big questions – why do you have a nervous system? What is stress? What is wellbeing? Redraws the neuro-anatomical maps of your autonomic nervous system from first principles. Modifies how we understand the ways that they coordinate and de-coordinate. Breaks the stasis in the Polyvagal Controversy.
