Apply for the AUTUMN 2026 Seminar
Foundations in Autonomics
semester one of our 2026 yearlong Autonomics Practicum
Our seminars at this level (graduate) are HIGHLY EXPERIENTIAL, and tend to be idea-rich, filled with people from various (trans-disciplinary) backgrounds with expertise in their respective fields (previous seminars have included Doctors in Social Work, Physical Therapy, Medicine, Naturopathic Medicine, as well as masters-level clinicians and bodyworkers, as well as life and wellness coaches). They are also pretty international, with participants from various continents and diverse cultures.
We are looking for participants willing to be intellectually and emotionally engaged with this content who are seeking rigorous intellectual preparation and seeking to engage experientially with this content. We are looking for people who are able to be present with the necessary discomfort of studying habitual patterns of defense, and are able to stay available and curious about these patterns.
The seminar meets weekly for two hours during the semester, and we typically assign an hour or two of content (written or video) as homework between classes.
People encountering our work for the first time find these contexts to be more relational & intensive than traditional academia, by a large margin. We operate a bit more like an apprenticeship or guild structure. We spend a fair amount of time tending to context, and there will be a lot of idea exchange. Sometimes these conversations get passionate. So we are looking, in our applications, for fit with our learning culture as much as your academic or professional background.
Learning will take place both within the primary cohort, with about 16 people in your group, as well as in smaller group triads.
Generally speaking, we are looking for people who have a background that includes some form of mindful awareness, somatics, or embodiment practice. We are looking for people who have already spent significant time deepening and developing a relationship with their inner worlds.
If we advance your application, you will interview with the faculty member who is teaching the seminar. If you advance through the interview, you will meet with a small number of fellow applicants in a ‘test class.’
We review applications on-goingly, in the order that they are received, and offer admission on a rolling basis. For the past three years, both our spring and fall semesters have filled.
We therefore encourage you to submit your application as soon as you know that you are planning to join us. If offered admission, we will hold your space for a week while you decide. We are happy to structure an installment plan with a modest fee if you are unable to pay tuition in a lump sum. We realize that our tuition is a non-trivial investment.
